I think I'm much safer remaining here on Matalava Island.
Ooops...sorry LCDR Williams.

XO, find Matalava Island on the charts... We're going to pay Father Goose here a visit with the deck gun...

Radio Report from USS Grenadier

Somewhere North of the Phillipines

Well, the initial cruise to Luzon was uneventful. After a bit of patrolling, we made contact with a Japanese Merchant. We promptly sank it. We've been having issues with our batteries out here. Diesel fuel is good, but all these airplanes is killing our battery charging schedule. We're ordered to proceed to a patrol grid north of Okinawa. I will probably head back to port if this goes well. If not, I'm going to try and get into a Japanese port on the Mainland.

Lt. Commander Eugene Williams, USN

Attached is the picture that USS Grenadier took when it sank the Merchant

Reporting in to Pearl Harbor

Sank ~31500 tons of Japanese merchant shipping. Most of the ships were in the Japanese Home Waters. Luckily, these were lone ships and not accompanied by escorts. The crew isn't ready enough to take on a convoy. This was a good patrol though.

75% Realism with TMO. TMO's A.I. is very good.

Everything is on except for Manual Targeting, Manual Map Update, and I like my external camera....

OK Red, enough of this boring cowardly patrols. It's time to step up and take on a convoy with 10 veteran escorts in shallow water. I'll be glad to hook you up on the mean convoys, just give me your date.

Try cutting the cam off, it's actually fun being stuck in your sub only why under attack. You might be surprised what all happens.

I am going to start heading for Japan for most of my Patrols now. If I don't run into a convoy on the next patrol, I'll give you the date. Right now, I'm at May 20 1943.

Don't give me convoys yet...mmmkay?

I don't use the external camera for advantages and I love the views also. The sunset/sunrise with the sub in the foreground looks cool.

I completely understand. I use the same settings as you on a 46" tv and the external camera views are gorgeous. Hard to turn that off. Just need will-power not to use it for an advantage. Best of both worlds.

The Japanese Navy is redeploying to Truk.

USS Grenadier is being sent to intercept.

-------

I'm going to take the Grenadier right into the harbor and find those IJN Warships. Hopefully, I'll find some cruisers, carriers and battleships.

I'm afraid Armistead calling LCDR Williams a coward has ticked him off. I hope he doesn't try something foolish.

Sitting in very shallow waters looking at 7 Cruisers, an oiler, and a carrier and possibly a battleship makes me a coward?

Just wait til 0230....Just wait.....

I'm going to go to Radar Depth and fire my Mk 14s at long range.

I'm afraid what may be a surprise is also known as..."Burial at Sea".
Where's my whiskey bottle?

Remember? I put it in the storage locker to be safely returned when we complete the patrol.

I'm not able to raise my periscope or come to radar depth.

There's a subchaser circling above me. No active sonar...no depth charges....just guns.

Again, the need for a deck gun arises... But then again, there's a BATTLESHIP at anchor a few NM away. Looks like Yamato to me.

Batteries are below 25% and I need to surface soon. I think I'm going to head for some deeper waters in the harbor and try to shake this subchaser.

Just in case, these may be my last words.
