To stay the night? Hell, I'd do it with proper equipment. I think it would be fun. I'm not scared of anything...but Radiation seems a bit on the bad side. The mutants and wild dogs don't scare me.

Chernobyl Diaries was such a bad movie.... I like seeing my friend's reactions though. That's the fun in watching horror movies. They are some stupid movies, but I like seeing the looks on my friend's face.

To put me in perspective, I laugh through horror movies. Nothing has scared me yet. Insidious, The Shining, Paranormal Activity, Chernobyl Diaries, and several others....just don't scare me...but they scared the living hell out of my friends

My friend that I get to watch horror movies with me? He's my age and he puts up a protective wall of pillows during movies. I got him to watch Insidious with me and some other friends....so he sits behind the girls and the pillows....

He saw Apollo 18 and couldn't walk through his yard after dark that night. He's a bit of a wuss when it comes to horror movies....but i have my work cut out for me. I'll see if I can't get him unscared.

I think i've derailed this thread.... Sorry about that. Just had a good laugh when I thought of Chernobyl Diaries...
Maybe just a little Ducimus posted the "get out of here Stalker" which of course is a joke to any Stalker fan like myself. And STALKER does not overly "exploit" the real tragedy per say though in a way it does the post was not in bad taste.

I would say though that talking much more in detail about STALKER or other movies and entertainment based off of the accident is a bit derailing and just slightly disrespectful when the subject matter of the thread is serious.

I am a little surprised that you could have watched the video I posted and still wanted to talk about entertainment and used the tone that you did in your post.I am not trying to correct you don't take me the wrong way.Maybe you did not watch the video if not you should try to follow the posts in a thread better. You do not have to read every word watch every second but you do want to have a firm grasp of how the thread is flowing.

Just try to pick up better on the subject and tone of a thread a little better.Maybe I am just being overly picky.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful here. Chernobyl was a horrible thing....but it interests me. I'm curious and I'm just saying it's interesting to learn about.

I don't watch any videos that are posted usually. My internet connection can't handle youtube very well so it's pointless to even try.

Nah...you're right for calling me on that one. I'm being kind of derailing and maybe disrespectful to any Russians or anyone who was directly affected by this disaster. I don't mean any of it. I know that this was a terrible, terrible, terrible thing and it has ruined that area for the next 10,000 years. I just love the "Post-Apocalyptic Survival" stuff and Chernobyl is one of my ( I really HATE to say this. I'm not trying to be disrespectful. ) favorite of the "Apocalyptic" disasters. Not because lots of people died and had to leave home...but I think it makes for a really cool story because the people who live there are basically living Fallout 3 or STALKER every day without the mutants (or are there mutants? ) and without most of that fictional crap. This is the real deal and IT HAPPENED! Sometimes I have a hard time believing that something like that happened. It just seems so crazy...

I've stated before that I sometimes have a dark sense of humor and a dark way of looking at things. Not all the time...I do have positive outlooks...but there's the odd thing that comes along....Chernobyl...while not "cool and interesting" to all of you...it's cool and interesting to me. It's not exactly the best thing for an international forum and a disaster as bad as this... I know... I apologize for anything that might have offended anyone in any way. It's an intriguing subject....

If there are any survivor stories....I'd actually love to read/hear those. I haven't actually heard/read any personal accounts of the disaster. I only know what I've seen from entertainment and Wikipedia.

I was a little harsh to be honest.I meant to "say come across as disrespectful".I don't think that you meant to be disrespectful the topic just got you thinking about Post Apoc games and movies so you posted your thoughts on that.

I still remember it quite well and recall staring with a mix of bewilderment and admiration at those people on top of the reactors roof.

Steelhead was just helping you Red October like a mother bear backhands her cub ...

gentle like instructions can be part of your up bringing and help your soul

I remember being a young seaman apprentice radarman on a heavy cruiser when a first calss radarman ask me to make a pot of coffee when I was off duty and I just smirked and put it off and didn't do it.

He puts me on report and I found out that his request to make a pot of coffee was really an order.

I made the coffee after that and learned respect.

One of the problems f I have read correctly is that this nuclear reactor is one of the very few reactors that only had a single shell covering. The rest have a double shell that would've prevented this sort of thing.

These poor victims of a major disaster may have prevented the dangerous mentality of starting a nuclear war ...

If this accident was appalling ... what would an exchange of nuclear weapons become?

That and pics of all those Russian helicopters dropping sand or whatever on the reactor, then seeing on the news how the radiation cloud was spreading around the globe. It kept showing an area that was growing so fast all the time. What a mess that was back then!

Yes it was a joke. I think most everyone here is also a gamer, and most gamers have played the series. So when the subject of Chernobyl comes up, the . I just posted the picture before somebody else did.
