Because it looks COOL!
![]() I've never had a personal favorite. There are just so many of them. I've always been a fan of prototypes, and have built models of a few, but never all the ones I wanted to. The B-17 holds a special place in my heart, because Utah's own Hill Air Force Base was named for Major Ployer P. Hill, who died flying the prototype at Wright field, and in 1990 I built a model of the 299 for Hill AFB's 50th anniversary. It's nothing to compare to Wright-Patterson, but they have quite a few planes on display, and I think it's worth the trip.
