forums viewed for hours (cheats)

hey there guys, i am pretty new to the forums but not the game (actually didn' know these forums existed til i watched effing controller on youtube) i have played the game the way it was meant to be played and i have decided that i want to cheat like crazy! Only problem is.... I am clueless as on how to do it..lol. If anyone could point me in the right thread direction for editing renown,medals etc... i would be eternally greatful

For starters , Welcome to subsim

Now , are using any supermod like GWX , NYGM ,LSH?
If not , start from there.

i am using gwx and sc3 mods right now, all i really want to do is give myself a crap ton of renown give all my guys all medals and a qualification i have spent years playing noramlly now i want to just blow stuff up...lol

More renown doesn't always help you to blow up more stuff. You might be able to hire better crew, but that only helps so much. Besides, with SH3 Commander you can give medals for free. You could also use the renown to "buy" better technology. But for that your patrol needs to be in the right time period. You can't buy radar or super-duper-smart torpedoes in september 1939. SH3 doesn't work like most arcade games where you can pretty much buy your level-up with a trainer tool. It's about surviving the patrol, to fight another day.

Welcome to Subsim! However, if you want to cheat, you kind of asked the wrong guys by asking us. We usually mod the game to make it as hard and realistic as possible without gagging on the diesel fumes and stink of 50 unwashed cewmen.

If you really want to cheat, shop around in the Downloads section. There are a few mods that make the game easier, if that is your thing. I believe there is one for an early war Type XXI and a mod to make ships easier to sink, but I have never really looked into them. I prefer Automatic targeting and that is "cheat" enough for me because I do not feel like converting a table in my house into a TMA station.

I think somebody made a supermod over in Modworkshop, but I can't remember more details. (I guess Hinrich Schwab got it right about the people in this forum looking for how to make the game more challenging and not less.)

You could try making the game easier by editing basic.cfg and NSS_Uboat7b.cfg and the likes. You can change them so that you get latest torpedoes and goodies like radar and radar warning at the start of the war and you can edit the U-boat's maximum surface and submerged speed. If you find the right file you could edit the u-boat's crush depth and edit the torpedoes speeds to point and shoot laser rifle shots. I haven't changed these myself except for the renown costs of the torpedoes so I can't guarantee these will work.
