Default The most immersive game made!!

Cannot believe how much I forgot about this game..

Its 4:30 am, I gotta get up at 9am tomorrow.

at 2am I was ready for bed and decided to go to Scapa flow really quick.. because you never know.. right?

sure enough I see the sunken ships blocking my way in, had my crew in silence creeping along at .5 knots.

and.. BAM!! I hit something, taking damage.. A freaking sub net!

Its not 2:15 and I dig in.. The immersion is so unreal!

I back up and blow ballast tanks and go full flank and clear the net, not before getting nailed by the shore batteries.

Some damage and I lost the Observation scope.. no biggie, wasn't going to use it anyway.

but now, it seems they are on to me, I have DD's all over trying to get a fix on my location, thank god Hans my cook slipped some sedatives in my crews food, they are super quiet

I'm scoping with my scope and sure enough I spot 1 coming right for me, I'm thinking this is it, when all of a sudden she stops in mid motion.

hahaha, she got grounded!!!

Sweet.. I continue on.

I keep going into the channel when all of a sudden, Englands pride and glory, all shiny with 8 of her big guns getting polished.

My adrenaline is going nuts now.. Still too far away to make a positive ID, I keep going, using ext. view I can see my Chief Petty Officer is doing a great job keeping the boat steady in the water (I see my stabilizers going up and down)

It was a clear early morning, not a single crease in the water, could be a good thing maybe a bad thing?

as I get closer now, trying not to cheat I finally get a fix on the monster of a battle ship..

What do you know..

its the

Now I'm really pumped.. I quickly get my bearings and figure out the best spot to engage.. My Watch officer whispered that he wanted to surface to get his boys some deck gun time.. I gave him that look and figured it had to of been what Hans slipped them.

I continue on and now really creeping along again.. BAM!!!

It shook some of the crew up, but I quickly ordered a full stop and gave my boat a quick look around! Thanks, FM_Interior mod!

everything looks good so I pop the scope out and as its going up I notice yet again, another net!!

ARRRGGGG!!!

No way I can pull the same maneuver as before, so I travel to the year 2013 and use a program called SHIII that allows ext. views to pan around for an opening. (See, this is how immersed I was)

So.. I cheated a little, but come on.. Its the HMS HOOD!

I finally find my opening and tuck myself in, by now my sonar guy has about 4 contacts in a search pattern.

I shut both motors down and do another quick check of the boat, I walk around and let my crew know whats going on, they had big smiles on their faces! Except for the guys in the torpedo room, they just sat there like manikins

I'm now in perfect position, about 800 meters away, broad side..

Reference guide says her draft is 11.1, I put tube 1 to 11.5 and fire.

I followed this torpedo all the way to the Hood, I figured 2 magnetic shots and 2 impact shots, but to be safe I wanted to make sure at 11.5 I would be ok..

Nope.. Bounced!!

I set the rest of them to 12 meters even..

1 in the front, 1 middle and 1 back..

They almost all hit like clockwork!

Huge explosions Thanks GWX Enhanced damage effects?

I sat and watched for a while (in real time) and her ass end started to take on tons of water.. she was done for!!

Its now 4:45am!

Sonar guy has about 8 contacts all around, I safely marked my exit and deciding how to get out.

I did save the game, but remember back in the day saving under the water wasn't good, so I paused the game and alt-tabbed, lol

I'm exhausted right now and my story is probably making no sense or doesn't flow right, but I just wanted to say again.. I've been here for year and have enjoyed all SH games, but the mods you guys make, are something no money can buy!

I've been playing SH5 for the last month or so, after playing Cliffs of Dover for a while and League of legends I wanted to get back in the water.. While the modders have done a great job with SH5, its nothing like this game.

The immersion, the chase, the damage control, everything about this game and the mods just cannot be matched!!

Wanted to say thanks guys!! I'll let you know what happens tomorrow

The Fatherland is proud of you.

I wish you a safe escape from Scapa and a safe return home.

Reading your story makes me so envious. If only I had some time to actually play the game. Well, when the kids grow a little bit more I believe I might have some time again. It'll only take about 2 - 4 years, I believe

Hopefully you escape with no problems

Default Congrats

Marvelous...marvelous story. I can imagine the tale you'll tell at work when the boss encounters you napping.

It's all good. Most guys like to get under the hood at night and stick one in her and just watch her go down.

Rule #8: Never say "Just one more minute" when it's time to shut the game off. Save it now and be done with it.

Of course I make it a point to never follow that rule, so don't listen to me.

Thoroughly enjoyed that read...I was there with you, is how it felt.

Also just wanted to say that I too cannot get into SH5. I enjoy the tutorials and 'Let's Play' by Stoianm1 but Sh3 beats the actual game play for me.

A good read :-) I have a story about one of my patrols which closely resembles the 'shovel full of sand' scene from das boot.I'll write it up soon
