I seem to have found the SimSim forum for SH4.

I'll just toss in that I completed 2nd Patrol of career that began in late May 1942. In the first Patrol, sank a Hiryu CV.

In this Patrol, had to hit a couple of PZs in the Aleutians. After that, had time to get to Guadalcanal in time for Savo Island on 9 August. In transit sank a 5,000 ton merchant. At Savo, sank a Takao CA.

Slowly worked my way north and intercepted IJN TF on 22 August. Detected around 1330 base time during a sonar check. Got into position - was able to get of a TF report. Had to penetrate the outer screen which proved easy because of the sea state. Went to P-depth and saw an approaching Shokaku CV around 4,500 yards away - speed 16. I was about 1,200 yards off the track, well positioned for a 10 torpedo salvo. I wanted to make sure that I sank this baby.

Kept popped scope up to refine solution then downing it again. On last look, tweaked the solution and let fly. Dived the boat - was crossing 120' when the first torpedo hit. Out of the 10, there were 4 misses, 4 hits, and 2 duds. Somewhat sloppy but acceptable.

Made it back to Midway with 3 objectives and 46,000 tons.

Before embarking on Patrol 3, I decided to start a German career. I wonder if the reinstall will have corrected the German TDC bug...

I see that I'm not the only one that gave up on UBI.
Their new format really sucks and now this. I stayed because there were some good folks there but I see most of them are finding their way to the best forum anywhere.

Welcome aboard Paul and Magic. I have a special job for the tow of you. We need to check the sonar. One needs to give a test count into the hydrophone, and the other needs to listen to make sure pinging is getting out. The regular sonar crew will listen inside.

I see you're once again trying to pass off the jobs I give you on others, the sign of a good upcoming officer. However, I have one problem. I told you to wire brush and paint my sub, fairly nice job, but I don't like the flames painted on the side, redo ASAP. Don't forget storing my special cargo in my cabin under my bunk.

First you don't like the pink primer, now you don't like the flames. The bright orange and yellow flames against the flat black is just too cool. I worked too hard on it. I'm not changing it.

Well, maybe it will at least confuse the enemy.

Hope you didn't get wet wading off that sinking scow

The forced transfers are almost complete. We're still waiting on Donna and RealeOldPhart. Could somebody board that garbage barge and remind them that they're AWOL?

If we get a few more I'll consider reinstatement of the screenshot Competition. The shots should look really nice over here without all that border clutter and downsizing.

What did they do to the Ubi forums? Last time I was there was ages ago and they'd made the search function almost useless. What did they do this time?

Welcome aboard to the new arrivals!

Welcome aboard to the new arrivals!
New forum software with severely restrictive size limits on posted screen shots. (killed the screen shot competition)
Plastered their crap ads in the borders, effectively squeezing the posting space into microtype territory.
And last but not least... the straw that broke the camels back...
A new "check these radio buttons" screen when logging in labeled with some absurd demands claiming immenent domain on content and collection of data about the members in exchange for posting priveleges. Not mandatory yet, but likely will be soon.
Known in some circles as Cranial Rectal Syndrome.
So, now not only does Ubi steal your money in exchange for a lease on their garbage software that never gets fixed, they want to steal the hard work of the modders who fix their junk and help their games sell.

Kind of like Facebook.
