Default NASA Spaceship Fast Destroyers

You guys ever try to hit those that go into lightspeed on the water in the game?

The in Silent Hunter IV always travel into lightspeed when I try to hit them with a torpedo fired from my submarine. They just are not limited by drag against the ship in the game and you could stop the engines in a destroyer like that, would since it is a 20 ton ship, it would take it awhile just to stop the thing. There were cases where they did shut off their engines to hear enemy submarines, but NOT like the game does and it is not like an airplane where you can shut off the engine for a brief second and glide it to hear any noises of say enemy armored or truck columns or enemy tanks.

This was before the days of AGP-70 Pulse Doppler look down, shoot down radars. It is NOT like that in a destroyer at all. Those things are FAST for a naval vessel, but not so fast that they travel like Imperial Star Destroyers in hyperspace, evading an X-Wing fighter plane. The destroyers are impossible to hit with a torpedo. I cannot seem to destroy them. They take all my torpedoes in my bow tubes to destroy just one of them and they turn awfully-fast for a destroyer.

Normally, a naval vessel at speed could take sharp turns, even for a carrier like the Yorktown, which managed to evade several Japanese aerial torpedoes, while being a heavy carrier. A destroyer can do the same thing with its rudder, although the ship takes a bit to accomplish a turn that with a . This ain't Top Gun you know!

I cannot hit them with a torpedo! I HATE DESTROYERS and I cannot duel with them on the water! I just avoid fights with destroyers because they are impossible to have. They travel so fast the the TDC cannot adequately track them and they have such a fast and unrealistic closure rate that it is impossible to hit them with a torpedo and that they travel so fast and such break-neck speed that I cannot track them with the TDC, nor get the bearings correct in the TDC solution that jotting down the solution to hit the destroyer is always incorrect. I cannot get the speed right.

They go faster that the TDC maximum speed SAYS THAT THEY ARE! I just try for 34 knots and they are gone in a split second in the blink of an eye and you cannot bother to hit them. You need to set the speed at such an unrealistic knot speed just to even hit them at all. That's all there is.

Destroyers are impossible to hit.

Running TMO 2.5+ RSRDC and patch.

I am so sick of there not being a Webster's maneuvering fix for this particular combination when trying to hit the destroyer and I do not know anything about coding or programming to be able to get into the RSRDC files to be able to edit them and toy with them to achieve the desired result and I do not know which ones to manipulate with. Which ones do I use? I cannot make a mod unless I know which ones to manipulate to have RSRDC mod and Webster's Fix enabled for them.

Can someone please help me make a mod for TMO 2.5+ RSRDC mod and get it to work so that I can stop the speedy destroyers?

Thank you
Patchman123.

Using MK14 on high speed setting and shallow draft, and getting within 600 yards will do the trick if they are close to perpendicular to your course. At over 700 yards, you need to fire 2; one just behind the bow turret, and the second after it accellerates to speed. That works too.

Good luck!

Or you could just not get detected and not waste torpedoes on escorts...

In my experience sinking destroyers are somewhat easy. I once attacked the Tokyo exress, sank three with torps, severly damaged one with a torp, sank two with the deck gun and chased the last one off.

You must be playing on Zero Realism because that is impossible. Are you sure they weren't armed merchants that appeared to be destroyers? Or were they converted merchant ships?

I don't believe that story one bit at all...

85% realism here (no manual targeting) - sank a DD in shallow water on a port recon mission with two torps at range 1200 - two hits - it split in two.

Aft Torp gang - they got the medals on that run.

I believe that. That could happen.

I play on 70-80 realism and the other story above is impossible. You can't chase a destroyer away...after a deck gun shootout. Even with the Narwhal that has two deck guns...It can't happen. Ive tried.

Well that was with RSRDC and I had 72% realism and I made damn sure I surfaced, fired a little and then dove under again. I was never for too long on the surface, that would be suicidal even with just the one destroyer.
