My only issue with the RA Mod (I'm assuming that's what you meant with "RS Mod") is that it's kind of annoying and confusing to install and implement. I stick with LWAMI just because it's much easier to put in.
As far as multiplayer goes, make sure that BOTH of you have those ports open NOT ONLY IN YOUR ROUTERS, but also in your Windows Firewalls (or whatever software firewalls you use.) I discovered that the reason I couldn't connect when I did have problems was because I opened the ports in the router but not on my firewall. I had to create some "new rules" for incoming and outgoing stuff for those ports in Windows Firewall. Now we have absolutely NO PROBLEM connecting.

Yarp, ports are now open and we have no issues to connect via Hamachi. I was still unable to open them on the Router however, so we gotta wait untill this is done to play without Hamachi.

I meant the Reinforced Alert mod, you're right, and i bet i would be able to get it installed, but i cannot find any valid URL. You don't happen to have one, do you?

For LWAMI, does it add new units? I thought it's only about editing parameters on the config.

LWAMI adds a LOT of new units, but not new player driven units. It's well worth the download. I'll see if I can scare up a link to the RA mod for you too. I've tried both, but I've stuck with LWAMI because it's so much easier to install and work with.
Also, when you get LWAMI 3.11, get the Victorious patch that's right next to it in the downloads section. It fixes a texture problem with one of the ships.

Edit: Here's a link to Rienforce Alert Mod version 1.35 (I believe this is the most recent version). The website is in Russian. The mod comes in four files and there's a hotfix that you have to put in after you install it.

If you have enough space on your hard drive, you can actually set up two different installs of Dangerous Waters on your computer, one for each mod, if you want.
