I doubt the Burmise will let those planes out of the country; they need them to modernize their own air force.

Hell no!

Our airforce needs modernizing more than theirs!

Seriously Ob have you heard of any updates to the story over there? I'd surely love to see those birds fly again someday.

Sadly it's gone pretty quiet, as far as I know all the political papers have been signed, so in theory they should be heading out there any time now, but the last news reports were last month when the Telegraph unveiled one of the financial backers of the dig (the guys behind World of Tanks, believe it or not). It's probably going to take a while for them to find the boxes and then dig them up, apparently they're fairly deep. I'd estimate that we'll hear news sometime next month. Then it'll be a good six months before we get the first box back in the UK once the wrangling is all said and done.

Rumour has it there might be a Mossie down there too, now that would be nice.

At least there has been some movement in the project.

A Mosquito too? Wow! If so it would be a one of a kind no?

Not quite, there's quite a few Mossies still around, but currently only one flying which was recently restored in Australia. So it would be nice to have another in flyable condition. The Spits are one of a kind though, supposedly Mk XIVs and XIIIs which are quite rare birds.

There are some circles which doubt they still exist....the Spits I mean.
