Nope I can't and the reason for this is because I am mostly not interacting with the crew in SH3. I don't see most of them, I try to "Imagine" that there are more then the 10 or so visible crew members that you can see in the sub in SH3 or SH4. yes I also know in SH5 there is only about half as many members in the U boat visible then there were in real life U boats, but like I said I try not to focus on that subject because I am mostly working in and out of the sub and not paying much attenton to the crew. I also know there is a mod out that increases the numbers of the crew for more eye candy. But when it comes to the enviroment, its impossible not to notice it. When leaving port I am usually outside on the tower. But I never said I don't get into SH3, I just said SH5 gives me a feeling of somewhat experiencing being at Kiel or out in the ocean. I just don't like the fact when looking at a island on SH3 or SH4 that I can only see part of it due to the engine of the game and view distance compared too which a real human eye can. Sh5 doesn't really have that problem. But like I said, I rather take gameplay over graphics anyday, but for me SH5 offers both of them. As I stated when I first got SH5, I could not play for more then 2 hours even with the beautiful eyecandy because the gameplay was just so off and little history was involved. I love history and that is why I only play simulator based games and not counter strike or call of duty. I play racing games like Forza or IRacing and not silly arcade games like need for speed made for the general public because It is that much closer to "somewhat expericing" it. But now Im just rambling on, but that is my opinion and that is why I think SH5 needs much more credit then what mostp people who play Sh3 or SH4 give it. But you have your reasons and I respect them. I am just trying to get other people's opinions and to counter my argument. |

All very good points, and you're right about the credit SH5 deserves. I was just answering why I still prefer the earlier versions. I was never one of the people who think it's bad, only that it's not for me - yet. I've said many times that if and when it does reach the type of interaction I'm after I almost certainly won't play anything else. It has much promise still. No hate here.
I only wish I knew how to work on implementing the things I'd like to see. I've tried time and again to learn how to make mods, but I just don't seem to be able to grasp it, which is frustrating for me because I feel that if you have legitimate complaints then you should learn to do something about them yourself. I think SH5 is the future, and I support it wholeheartedly. My reasons for not embracing it completely are my own. But that's just me. ![]()

I also tried attempting to modding but I just would never have enough time. I am more of a physical hands on guy and thats why I am a mechanic. When it comes to computers and software I know the basics and maybe a little more then the average guy. But I could never do stuff such as making models or going inside the game engine files and turning around numbers and such. I went to school for physics and calc and advanced engineering classes but this stuff is just too much for me
![]() Then again thats why we have these amazing guys to do it for us. And the best part is they are doing it for free. Don't know how but I salute them. |
