Thats an impressive moment for sure. It's always nice when life grants you so much luck against those odds sometimes.

Best three? Launched four fish from the front at four diferent Large Merchants. All four hit for a keel break within 15 seconds of the first hit. ~50K sunk in under ten minutes? Thank you, buh-bye now!
Slunk into Scapa flow, sank 30 tonnes of warships and merchants, no one knew I was there. And most recently, sank a Revenge class warship. Her escorts did not like me and hunted me from the Rockhall bank to the English channel. |

On my last patrol, sank the Aquatania with one shot to the bow in the mid Atlantic while heading for my patrol grid between New York and Norfolk. Tried to enter New York harbour but it was teeming with destroyers, think there were 8 defending the entrance (march 1942). So went for a cruise down towards Norfolk, and sank 2 ceramic liners on the way. Infiltrated Norfolk Naval Base and found 4 destroyers, 3 liberty ships, a modern tanker, medium cargo, large tanker, floating dock, landing ship, troop ship and a ASW trawler. All went under with one (well placed) eel each. The Clemson destroyers were beautiful to watch getting hit, jumped about 10 feet in the air and broke in two

I think the most I ever did was pumping a Zaun-I out a stern tube at 70m at a Flower that had kept me down for something like 10 hours. Last act of defiance, and all that. It hit by some miracle, but I had almost no air reserve left, so it was 'Surface full ahead both' with crew passing out all the way up.
