Their leader is Russell Means, one of the prominent members of the American Indian Movement in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Neither I, nor the articles I linked to said that Means spoke for all the Lakota. It only says that he was affiliated with the AIM and the Republic of Lakotah, who are behind this 'succession'.
