Harmless. But what Ryanair's O'Leary is doing, is criminal:

http://airnation.net/2012/08/16/ryan...investigation/

Quote:
Ryanair is being investigated by Spain’s Public Works Ministry for three emergency landings in Valencia, Spain after the Irish carrier’s aircraft ran low on fuel while being kept in a holding pattern.
All three Maydays happened during one and the same day.

According to German media, the three pilots have accused the company leadership of having called pilots to ignore safety reserves and to take only as little fuel as absolutely needed. The letter to all Ryanair pilots, so say these pilots, declared that it were not the policy of Ryanair that reserve fuels is to be taken just because the pilot feels like it.

O'Leary should have been shot to the moon already many years ago.

Ryanair could loose its license to fly in Spain for three years now. I hope they loose their license for 30 years in all Europe.

The three pilots in question should gte a spanking, too. Just because their company urged them to cut short reserve fuel, they should never have accepted to do that, since they can be intimidated, but not ordered to do that: they are in command and it is their ultimate decision how much fuel gets boarded. That responsibility nobody can take from them.
