Default 2004 U.S Election humour / nostalgia.

Ha, just stumbled over this 8 year old gem on Youtube, I remember it make me chuckle back in the day.

You spend so much time thinking about us you should just immigrate and give your voice some meaning.

And you should stop spending so much time getting worked up about how I spend my thinking time, so much so that you have to follow me around the forum to make slightly condecending remarks?
This is GT, Lighten up man.

Personally, I think our British cousins are perfectly within their right to be interested in the outcome of our presidential elections. While they have no voice or say in the outcome; nonetheless, to some degree, who's in charge here, indirectly effects them there. (edit: Now how much it effects them, I have no idea, i'm just sure it does given the close relationship of our two countries. )

Anyones got a right to take an interest in anything and say anything about it (freedom of speech) so long as they dont break the law.
What they dont nessicarily have a right to do is to interfere or to get involved.
I think August thinks I have a low opinion of the USA when in fact I dont, I just have a low opinion of politics in general.
I see America as a great nation, but one that is slowly being ruined in some ways. Not that it matters since im not american and therefore my opinion on the subject has no meaning.

It effects pretty much everyone in Europe.
Maybe not vastly but at least to some degree (foreign politics, management of international crises, decisions on economy etc.)
That's why we have plenty of US election threads and posts and hardly any about any other election in the world.

Inviting you to immigrate to our country is condescending? More condescending than telling a foreigner how to vote in their elections?

He said he might not vote due his lack of faith in R said he might "hold his nose or just stay at home", I politley suggested he should vote for someone else, but he will do what he wants in the end. He has a brain, he can think for himself and I cant tell him or anyone else what to do, anymore than you can 'invite me immigrate to the US' (unless you work for immigration)
And if i tell you your voice has no meaning - thats hardly polite now is it.

Ok so you are now telling me it is not my place to voice my opinions on foreign politics in General discussion and that by doing so I am being rude?
So in turn that means you are not entitled to rant on about Iraq, Europe and god know where else to your hearts content too I suppose?

There's a big difference between voicing an opinion and telling people what to do. You Brits got all upset at Romney just stating the obvious but apparently you have no problem when the shoe is on the other foot.

There is, but i dont and cant tell people what people what to do via and internet forum, so that is irrelvent. In the case you refer to, I suggest that a voter should vote third party when in his post he said that he already said he might not vote at all, and all of a sudden im a Tyrant? fact is, if I had suggest to him he stick with voting Rebublican - you would not have complained.
Your concern over me 'sticking my nose in' is rather selective dont you think?

And yet the thoughts and opinions of the British Media do not nessicarily represent my own.
Maybe take a look at the thread concerning Romney's 'gaffe' and read what i said - not other British forum members but ME.

The British media got upset, and so did some British people, personally I agree with you, Romneys remark was that he was concerned we weren't ready - not exactly offensive in itself but there is more.
Over here, people were moaning about the olympics all year ,we were predicting travel chaos in London, complaining about the cost of the olympics while we are in recession, the olympic lanes effecting traffic, then there was the security scandal and on and on.
Then suddenly everyone sees the opening ceromony its all union jacks, tears of national pride and unicorns crapping rainbows - Ok fine nothing wrong with that.
But then everyone wants to lynch Romney when he was only saying the SAME THING that many Brits & our media have been saying for ages? That was just total hypocracy if you ask me.
