Well now I'm jealous. We've talked on the phone, but I've never met him in person.

Is the bunker still around? Can't remember if they destroyed it or not.
The Bunker is a memory; the Soviets did everything possible to obliterate it. The site is now a parking lot and some buildings with a modest plaque describing what was once there. The plaque also has a photograh of Hitler, one of the very few official places with any depiction of the Reich...

Default Berliner Unterwelten

Hi Neal,

this might be interesting for you:

http://berliner-unterwelten.de/home.1.1.html

the tours are often booked for weeks in advance, but maybe you´re lucky and there´s a chance to pop in. Those "Berliner Unterwelten" tours are very, very interesting and full of history, from WW2 to the cold war.

Viel Spass, Kurfürst

Onkel Neal, to my knowledge, hasn't actually said why he is in Deutschland - specifically the Dusseldorf area.

I think I know.

I haven't, have I? Well, we can discuss that tonight at Burgplatz

I made a run down to Speyer, the weather was great most of the day. Got the Yammy up to 215 on the bahn but people kept getting in my way. See, in west Texas you can drive as fast as you want and there's hardly any traffic.

Also made a stop in Worms to see the famous cathedral.

@Neal: everything's still fine with 7:30pm? I might meet up a little earlier with Dan, but we'll be at the Burgplatz then.

I am free now, I will be there early too, say 6:30. Great weather! You have my cell number, call me when you get there.

What does this sign mean?

Local residents only? No bikes or cars? If so, then what can go down this road, just walkers and horses? Boy, I broke this one a lot, lol.

Welcome back to Germany Neal

That sign means that only residents of that road are allowed to enter by car or motorcycle. It's very common in the countyside, but don't worry too much, most likely the cops will turn a blind eye to a tourist.

Enjoy your trip!

Cheers,
Michael
