Yes this helps greatly. It was pretty frustrating, I think I hit most every button on the keyboard. I love how the keyboard help doesn't even show all of the buttons. For example: B = Binoculars. I don't think any of the other silent hunter games used the mouse wheel... Now, I've also learned how to turn the hydrophones when listening (same deal) and a couple of other things as well. This is also how the direction of the boat can be adjusted while hovering over the heading bar.

or if using TDW UI you can click on the red square in the middle of the heading bar to bring up the compass . There is even a mod to zoom the compass out while moused over click on the compass to change your heading click on the little dot beside the heading bar to hide the heading bar
