Okay...during the development and testing stages of TGW and GWX, 2, 2.1, 3 I have sank millions of tons and had careers that have lasted anywhere between a few hours and the entire length of the war.

No hope for me I guess

Back in the old days with auto targeting , no duds , no realism packs I had scored 185K tons in a single patrol

I personally have always objected to tonnage comparisons, because it is possible in any game to achieve records that make the real-life kaleuns green with envy. I personally try to play as close to historical patterns as I can, which means I have had more than one patrol end with no tonnage at all, and I consider 25,000 tons to be exceptional, my average probably being around 5000 per patrol.

I just finished my first war patrol since "rediscovering" SH3... First patrol after hostilities commenced, in U-45 VIIB - Just over 29,000 tons, 6 ships. I hit (and probably sank) a passenger cargo, but lost it in the fog when I had to evade two nearby warships coming to her aid. I also hit an ore carrier on my way home, but the one torp I had left wasn't enough to put her under. Wish we got renown for damage! I tend to play more historically as well - most of the tonnage this trip was one ship - a 10,000 ton large cargo vessel in the St. George's Channel.

I don't get much most patrols but every little while I get a really good patrol. One time I sank a huge convoy. Put a few eels in the escorts and the rest were easy pickings. There must have been atleast 10-20K tons.

I'm sitting mid to late 1940, VIIB, 54% realizm (I think, haven't had the chance to play for three weeks now but it's constantly on the stages of my mind).
You could say I cheat, or at least I know in the real world they didn't put an eel into a merchant then surface and finish it off with the deck gun. Anything under 4k I hit only with the deck gun. So if I remember correctly, I'm at roughly 140k tonnage with 4 eels left and probably not enough fuel to return home afterwards.
I'll have to run slow until the batteries are charged, then run at 30m until the air or batteries are depleted, then recharge and go again. Does anyone have a great way of getting from the western approaches back to Wilmshaven on fumes?

Don't answer that, I'm not going to hijack this thread.

Nice work Kaleuns! Up to my 20th patrol and have over 360,000 GRT. Yeah I know a number like this is unrealistic but Its fun trying to sink everything you possibly can. Much respect to the guys who play it as real as possible though.

Sometimes it's a matter of experience. I used to try to set high tonnage scores, but it was 1987 and the game was Silent Service. After twenty-five years of playing subsims I guess I got bored with just playing the games. My happiest moments are sailing out of port and looking at all the cool sights.

202000GRT. Play style. I do 8 patrols at a time, then start the game at a later year, do another 8, etc.

At 78% of realism.

Atm its 27 of november 1939 and I have 29t BRT. If only I could catch up that convoy and get rid of escort bombing me all time...

I just do orders of BDU, so I stick to the area they want me to partol - well, not all seas are fish punds
