Kendan452: What about stuff like getting a hex editor and modifying certain bits in the executable file... That all go fine for you?

Sailor Steve: Yep Steve, over a decade playing stock configurations. You have mail.

Chances of you doing this yourself manually are slim. TDW has an exe patcher program that will do all of that for you, without any messy coding.

I would recommend playing Silent Hunter 5 before trying Silent Hunter 3 (+ Grey Wolves 3.0). Otherwise, if you're anything like me, you won't be able to stand SH5's clunky controls and terrible, terrible AI (hell, I'm starting to think I somehow installed the AI mod wrong... sitting stationary at periscope depth should not be a workable defense against 6 British destroyers who are actively hunting you. They quite nearly rammed me and STILL didn't figure out where I was. Spent 10 minutes circling around me then trotted off towards the horizon, leaving the still-sinking Queen Elizabeth on its own).

Yeah, this game could still stand some improvement in the challenge department, but at least, thanks to mods, the destroyers now hear me when I run at flank speed 5 metres below their keels. They didn't at release.

...Sorry, normally I'm not so bitter. I played SH5 on release and was horrified to find it nearly unplayable. Have only just recently tried re-installing, figuring most of the problems would have been patched out... the fact that they haven't has been a major irritation. Serious congratulations to the modders in managing to do what they've done so far.

I think sober agreed to help me out.

I'm going to record and document the whole install process from A-Z and ask sober where I need help and have him review the videos...

Once it is done, I will put the video series on youtube to walk any player through setting up Sober's Mega Mod for silent hunter V.

I'm also thinking that a lot of these mods should be wrapped up on one zip so you can download a lot of them at a time instead of getting each one by one...

Agdune, I kinda liked having to walk around the ship in Silent Hunter V, I don't think I'll use the warping feature much... The part I didn't like is that it seemed like my watch crew and hydrophone officer couldn't find anything!
