If he is having an "episode" - do NOT interject yourself. Catch him during the day sometime and say "hey man, I've been noticing a lot of noise about 2 AM. Everything ok? Sounds like your fussing at some chick and we don't want things to get ugly, so chill a little. If you need to take a walk or something, it might be best."
Yes, he may not have anyone there. Then again, he could be using the services of a local "entertainer". He could have a serious problem. This way, your not "judging", but putting him on notice that its been noticed. That way he can identify it as an issue and work on it or get it addressed. Since he is stable at other times - it sounds like he is trying to keep himself "straight" - and if so a friendly convo on it is enough to help him do so. If it continues, then you go from there. But don't involved others until you give him the chance to sort it out first.
