Michael Gannon goes into some detail on development and use of FIDO's in his book "Black May".
Gave me chills during some of the descriptions of their operational use. I wondered what those doomed crews thought after being hit by one of those. The inrush of water and the uncontrolled dive into the abyss. I couldn't stop shaking my head over how obsolete the U-boats and their weapons were by mid-1943 and on.
