I fail to understand it. If I choose offline mode, then block my firewall with no incoming connections, then it launches. Fine. It still says it synching games, but its quicker then that if it is in online mode. That takes a few seconds to synch. If then when I quit the game and restart, the launcher comes up with the logon screen and I cannot click play, it means I have to uncheck offline mode, login, and then check offline mode to play again in the settings. So its a basic con. I have the DVD version, recently purchased from Amazon for £4. Installed with normal settings, patched..etc? Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes. I just tried again, and its first checking for update, then get to the login screen and I click log in but its not doing it. Is just static at the login screen. Then I click settings, uncheck offline mode, click login again and it works. Then, whilst I am at the ubi screen, go back to settings, check offline mode and it launches. I need to be online, regardless of anything I check in the settings. I can play offline, ONLY after I have logged in initially. I cannot play it without an internet connection...I need to login to ubi BEFORE I play.

Default Heh, just noticed this!

Time for me to return to the deeps at last, damn real world Navy has been keeping me busy, but now I am on shore duty! Ubisoft finally came to it's senses and I have once again given them some money which they would have got much sooner and more of it...Ubi facepalm.
Yay Steam pulling it down now!

Well, after a year I tried re-installing my perfectly legit SH5 copy. Didn't get too far - it wouldn't even accept my perfectly legit CD key.
I can't believe I paid money for this crap.
I wish Ubi's managers will rot with brain cancer, die horribly in a car crash or at least be gang raped in the butt. I will never ever buy any product from those mother****ers.

Your opinion is welcome, but you need to read the forum rules regarding swearing, including fake swearing.

Also, your stated wishes for the company's managers is beyond the accepted propriety on these forums.

With the actual DRM and the quantity of mods , i think that buy silent hunter V is a very good idea.

i buy my DVD copy weeks ago for 4 euros, because here , in Spain, silent hunter is released with another cheap game series.

Now i´m oficialy a silent hunter V commander

A example of a good DRM is serious sam 3 with a ruthless invincible mutant scorpion that spawns on the first level. It can't be outrun or outgunned.

I can imagine a destroyer like this in SHV, a lot better than the actual DRM

Now that DRM is gone, I'm ready to purchase, but got way behind the info curve waiting for this. Not sure if I want the Gold Edition or not (difference unknown) and Looking at the Subsim store, there appears no link for the US Amazon purchase, only other countries. Went to Amazon and don't see any way to credit Subsim with the purchase.

Click on the link at the bottom of this page. The default link, Amazon.com, is the US one.

Default Hi there Kylania .Can you help me to use uplay update??

I bought the game sh5 in march 2012 and once at home i saw that it was requiered to be conected to internet all the time. My adsl is constantly dropping and that's why i still have not installed the sim.

My sh5 is version 1.0.0

Reading comments in SUBSIM i know that in order to install MODS it is needed to update it to version 1.2. And this is possible by internet, but, once it is updated to version v1.2, how can i download the uplay update sh5 and to follow for steps to desconected from internet??????

I am new in subsim and my knowledge in computers is very very low. So, if you can help me, remember that i need very crear instructions.

Thank you in advance

Update to 1.2:

got to windows explorer (or file manager)

go to C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Support\GameUpdater --- doubleklick the file "gu.exe".

this should update you to version 1.2.

then have a look at post #4 (page #1) on this thread to do the correct settings in UPlay if you want to play offline....
