Default Did SH5 sell 0.5 million copies?

If so the numbers are probably reasonably healthy for such a niche game.

Quote from Ubisoft's own SH5 press release
Silent Hunter® is the most award-winning submarine series of all time, with nearly 1.5 million copies sold worldwide.

Quote from Ubisoft's own SH Online press release
The Silent Hunter franchise has a strong community of dedicated fans around the world, with nearly 2 million copies sold worldwide since the first game was released in 1996.

Thanks for that, no doubt the truth lies somewhere in the vast gulf between these two figures! I have heard it said that sims have a much longer shelf life than other genres so who knows.

I don't remember what the magic sales number is/was for a game to be considered a "success".

I think it's around 250k-300k, but I don't remember anymore.

Yes, I remember hearing 300K at one point not sure if that still applies today though.

I was under the impression that most companies are pretty secretive about "the number" unless they sell a lot, then they want everybody to know.

No, sorry, I was referring to what you said about 300k for a sim being considered a success, the sales figures are indeed still a mystery!

The number I'm thinking of is the number of copies sold.
