Go south from NYC for about 2 hours and you can see where the United States of America was born.

Well, if you are in D.C./Baltimore, check out the following:
Baltimore: USS Torsk - Tench class sub in Baltimore harbor. Contact AVGWarhawk about that!! Edgar Allan Poe gravesite National Aquarium D.C.: All the various museums down on the Mall Udvar Hazey Center in Chantilly, VA (outside D.C.) Washington Navy Yard Museum Arlington National Cemetery There are also a LOT of American Civil War sites not too far from Balt-D.C.: Antietam, Gettysburg, Bull Run, Fredericksburg, etc. Really, you are only going to have time to get to the most obvious parts, though.

IF you guys are ever in the Illinois Area, headed towards Chicago, let me know. I'm not exactly a tour guide but I can be helpful in finding Navy Pier, the MSI (Museum of Science and Industry, where the U-505 is) And some other things.
Mostly, I can introduce you to all the cooooooooooooooorn

Any more recommendations? I leave the wintery shores of Australia this week Thursday. Excitement for the trip is building quickly. I do plan to visit the Chicago MSI for U-505 on Saturday or Sunday. Depends on when I get over the jet lag. If any members are up for a trip to see 505 let me know. Just look for the Aussie with a Nikkon D40 DSLR wandering around the museum.

Could hit up Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Arguably one of the most important places of the Manhattan Project.
