I have version 1.5.0.60 of this on SHIV WOP gold. Do I need to upgrade it, and can it be installed over the existing version ?

I don't know what WOP is, do you mean With Out Papers?...I have SH4 gold 1.5, which is the last version, if you have that you do not need upgradaing but there are plenty of Mods to download.
