I know most of you hate Ubisoft for destroying SH, and other older titles, and for their Draconian DRM, so don't bother inputting your input on these matters.

Anyways, screenshots of AC3 were leaked and the setting is the Revolutionary war. Now if you haven't played AC, the whole premise is that Knights of Templar(aka Templars) are the bad guys who are trying to take over the world, and have been since the crusades. They're trying to get their hands on artifacts that do amazing things. Now from my understanding the Freemason's and the Templar's are connected in the real world. Which brings up an interesting question. If George Washington is a freemason, wouldn't that make him a bad guy.

Having just finished Revelations recently I'm a bit over AC at the moment. I feel like the series could use a rest so they could innovate a bit more on the gameplay side. Story wise I'm interested to see how they tie where ACR left off and AC3 begin.

Could use a bit more Desmond too. I feel like we barely know him despite playing through hours and hours of his ancestors lives. But I reckon I'm holding my breath there since I believe Ubi have stated they'll never base an AC on a Desmond story.

I'm still in Brotherhood because I'm always one game behind(didn't finish AC2 until Brotherhood, and I haven't finished Brotherhood and Revelations is out). But I have a feeling that a new character and a new time period will hopefully have different gameplay.

I'm interested in seeing how they handle the actual Revolutionary War, and enemies mostly using muskets(melee combat with musket using enemies)
On top of that I'm interested to see how free-running will play out in smaller towns, and in the forests.

A reveal trailer should be out tonight.

presumably tree climbing will feature heavily, could be interesting. Only thing that's putting me off is that there will most likely be a heavy emphasis on killing Brits

Details revealed include:

The game is set during the American Revolution between 1753 and 1783

Assassin is born of white English father and Native American mother

The Assassin's name is Connor, or Ratohnhaké:ton in native Mohawk tongue

The story focuses on his belonging to neither culture

He takes no sides, and will go after both Americans and British

Both sides portrayed objectively, but Connor chooses to act against tyranny after a family murder

Will be involved in major events of the Revolution (Saratoga, Bunker Hill listed amongst many) but it is his story, not a copy of a story like the movie The Patriot

Key characters will come into play: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Lee and many more

Economy, money, property all overhauled but still under wraps
Den defense from Revelations will not return

Multiplayer will be included but no further information was provided

Aim is to create a next-gen game on current gen

Uses completely overhauled new version of the Anvil Engine

Game has been in production since Assassin's Creed II

Seasons occur, with every place having both a normal and winter version

Combat system completely overhauled, much more fluid

Big focus on offensive style combat due to addition of firearms. Removal of 'target lock' system to prevent 'turtling' tactic.

Climbing trees and traversing a wide area outside of Boston called 'The Frontier' will be a key aspect of the game.

The area of 'The Frontier' is 1.5 times the size of Rome in Brotherhood

'The Frontier' will not be an empty space like the wilderness of Assassin's Creed 1, but will include around a third of quests and gameplay.

Hunting mechanic exists, can skin animals and make money a la Red Dead Redemption

Flintlock weapons appear

Connor can dual wield a hatchet and a knife

Massive battles of 1000+ enemies now possible

Will contain settlements occupied by Americans, British, Mohawk

Big goal is to allow the player to traverse restricted areas without the entire game mechanic causing enemies to get angry

If those details are correct, the game is shaping up nicely. I really hope they've been working on it(full speed) since AC2, as this means we'll get a proper sequel(would make sense, ubisoft is large enough to have several teams working on things).

The trailer is nice. Although I did notice one thing, his outfit is no longer White with red highlights, but rather white and blue, which makes me believe he'll be more likely to favor the Americans(although George Washington had the Piece of Eden at one point, so that could still make him a bad guy). Eitherway, I want it.

Also, has anyone here played AC: Revelations? If so is it as good as Brotherhood?

I'd put Revelations on par with Brotherhood. The story was intestesting enough to pull me through the game pretty easily. The hookblade is alot of fun to play with, just wish there were more hb lines to use in Constantinople.

I truly love this series of games. Assassins Creed indirectly led me (late) to Silent Hunter 3, which is why you are tolerating me right now.

I read alot, and it looks to have mass battles, alot of travelling. (One section is larger than Brotherhoods entire map) a native American hero. I am awaiting confirmation on his name meaning.

Altair means "the flying one"
Ezio means "eagle"

So I am wondering what the name Ratohnhaketon means.

I also hear George Washington, Benjamin Franklin (Da Vinci) and Charles Lee have a Cameo.

I look forward to it, being a huge fan of the series, and one of the most kickass storylines in all videogames.

edit: Revelations seemed kinda shorted compared to Brotherhood (mission and activity wise)

I hope they intend to impress.

Hookblade was great, but Connor (rat) hunts and has a rifle I hear.

So really the question is what happened to the eagle theme.

Ezio and Altair were watchers. Connor is a hunter.

Maybe we shall see a change from "finding out why" to "preventing the worst" (from seeing to hunting)

Maybe Ubi will string it along for 10 more games, and my speculation is rubbish.

I'd honestly like to see an AC based in Sengoku Jidai or in the Edo Jidai. Also an AC in a Victorian London, or France(Paris!) during the French Revolution would be interesting too.
