Be careful with the time compression. It's very easy to miss contacts without even knowing, even at 512.
When you are using the hydrophone, sail at 1-2 knots or stop engines and go to around 20 to 25 meters depth. It works better than periscope depth. That's just my experience. There are of course places, where there are a higher concentration of ships than others. Hope you find what you are looking for. Good hunting PS: Check out Websters Sticky in the SH5 forum: WANTED: sh5 missions & mission designers. There are lots of single missions that you can download, action guaranteed. |

My tip would be as posted above - learn the shipping lanes.
Tip2 - open ME2 in your Sh5 folder and load up the campaign you are playing. Zoom into the area you are patrolling and press play. This will show you the paths the ships will take and how many there are |

it just seems like the ships are avoiding the mission areas 'though...
oh well, will keep sitting at ~10 - 20 m, just floating there, waiting. |

i sympathise with you reign, this game can be like watching paint dry sometimes, but that is the realistic side to the game.
the realism settings have no impact on how more likely you are to contact something,at least in my experience. at the risk of starting a flame war,no-one has the right to tell you or anyone else how to play this game,we all derive enjoyment from it through different aspects and because how you want to play doesnt conform to how some people say it should be played, does not give anyone the right to slag you off. as a wise man once said,i may disagree with everything you say but will defend to the death your right to say it |

You have to understand why the most ppl here are rubbing there eyes when they read what you are requesting. Before SH5, this series was meant to be a simulation. SH5 IS already a complede arcade game and there are tons of ships actually. Heck, Im in December 1939(!) now and sunk 220.000GRT already, even highly modified. So, it is kinda funny to see someone requesting even more action. But, one should do what makes one happy, so... good hunting - or slaughtering. |
