Shouldn't you be putting this in the model and books forum?

Very nice, I like the netting on the Sherman. I really must continue my Firefly at some point.

Jim put his thread here. I even stole his thread title.

The thread looks fine here and I'm ever so impressed with the thread title

That's a fine collection you have there TLAM...reminds me of the days when my eyesight allowed me to build 1/35 armour but in particular 1/700 maritime

Maybe what he should have put is 'In before Steve - We have a dedicated forum...'

And so what he's been here for a decade, it's not like he contributes to anything or is a fount of knowledge...?

Oh wait! That TLAM "CIA World Factbook (and more)" Strike, you should've said.

Nice pics by the way, but take that sticker of the printer, please!!!

Gauze is a great idea for netting. I bet it would work well to simulate netting on a fishing boat model.

Oranges are often packaged in plastic mesh sacks which would also do that job.

That looks like a hairball out of the vacuum? j/k

@Jim I'm working on a diorama with the SS John Brown that's 1/700. I'm also building ( at the same time) a diorama with a Japanese tanker, Jap destroyer and US sub, also 1/700. The tanker has photo etched parts and was pretty spendy. I haven't started the tanker yet.

@ TLAM,
Those are some nice lookin' subs.

What do you guys use for stripping paint from a plastic model shell? Some folks recommend Pine Sol or 91% isopropyl alcohol.

I've used Testors thinner to limited effectiveness. I've never really had much luck stripping pain.

I understand Pine Sol will work fairly well but it takes a long time (24 hours or so) but 91% Isopropyl Alcohol will work faster and is less likely to damage the plastic.
