Okay, I think I have this GW3 mod figured out, all files downloaded and ready to go...
Now should I also go for SH3 Commander R3.2? It sounds like from this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147237 that you have to install that BEFORE you install GW3. So the time for the decision is now... What are Commander R3.2 best enhancements for the game? Thanks again! |

You need the GWX 3 cfg files for Commander also.
Get it from Jim's link. |

This Link takes you to the download page, which includes the read me on how to set everything up [its simple, adjusting a specific .cfg] that allows you to set the resolution to what you want, i play at 1440x900 ![]() As for things i like most about commander, would be realistic crew options, random ship tonnage, and real ship names in logs, just to name a few. Theres much more it brings to the table than that though. It definitely makes for much more enjoyable careers to me [even though i usually never finish them ![]() Last edited by diluvian; 01-21-12 at 05:43 PM. |

This GWX3 600 page manual is a monster! I'm on page 168... I took a while to read that far and I feel like I haven't even put a dent in it...
On a sim I like to have the whole manual down beforehand. Any notes as to what parts are a need to know, also what can be skipped? |

I'm sorry but when you eat, do you also ask someone to chew the food for you ?
![]() No one is forcing you to read it, as well as no one is rushing you to read it all in one day! To answer what can be skipped or not depends basicly on your willingness to know stuff. The more you read the more you know. |

First of all plz don't read the whole GWX manual, just concentrate on playing the game I would say. I would suggest referring to the table of contents when you want to know something. The manual targetting chapter could be helpfull tho. You could check this out aswell for more: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146795
SH3cmdr is a must have, kind of hard to explain why but you'll see it for yourself when your using it. Once you got both of those mods installed, I would say play a couple of patrols than come back for more. Kind of what I'm doing at the moment, because I've reinstalled SH3 a couple days ago. |

One thing I read is how they changed the damage system...
For those of you that have played GW3... Is it a bad idea to fire torpedoes under the ship and set them for magnetic detonation? Many of the smaller vessels snap in half in the standard game when this is done. Sounds like you mostly want to strike vessels at the water line in GW3, preferably twice because they don't get damaged much by torpedoes any more and mainly sink via flooding. Thoughts? |

1. The ability to control certain functions like wave height, deckgun reload speeds and crew management with the click of a single button.
2. Career options that include whether you play through the whole war or retire realistically. 3. Crew options that change the crew to more realistic loadouts, i.e. the number of officers and petty officers in relation to enlisted men. 4. A database of almost all the 42,000 sailors who served on u-boats, randomizing them into 1.7 billion possible crew names. 5. The ability to award medals, badges and promotions at your discretion, not having to wait for the game to allow you one at a time. 6. Realistic historic ship names given to every ship you sink. This takes place after the patrol is finished, not during the game. The above is also enhanced if you use my Ship Names mod, which adds several thousand new names and includes IABL's Merchant Fleet Mod and a lot of other imported or created ships. Basically Commander does for your career what supermods like GWX do for your game.
