I'll set up a dedicated again if there's a want. I'm always up for a game so you'll have to tell me when to run it though.

I know one or two thinking of picking it up again, I used to run a regular night at Eurogamer, so if we pool our forces we could get quite a squad going? Will likely be a week or two before I have enough time to get to it (dissertation to finish) but after that I should be good for a regular-ish night.

I can always give it a bash...my text and screen is rather blurry at the moment but the FPS seems reasonable. I'll have to kick it a few dozen times and see what happens.

Check the other resolution setting. For some reason has a render resolution and another it scales to. I always set them identical to get rid of the horrid scaling blur.

Also, set the PP filter to low. Personal preference, can actually see stuff.

Much better. All installed and patched to 1.6. No mods in there though, or extra missions... see if I can find those packs on a drive somewhere.

Righto, maybe we should reinstate Tuesday as Arma day?

Run it in the afternoon as Domi and do something more organised, if people are willing, at the "usual time".

I read that the latest uügrade they did also improved the AI, but they gave no details.

Any info on that? Does it make sense to play sP now, does friendly AI obey orders in a better way, and is enemy AI more reacting? I have deinstalled ArmA2 many months ago since in SP it made absolutely no sense to play. I prefer to set up one single mammoth scenario, attach randomised "infantry garrisons" guarding the villages and settlements, and randomised infantry patrols along the c ountryside in a way that every couple of hours every piece of land gets visited by enemy troops sooner or later, and then I just stroll around and do what I feel to do - get from A to B, or cleaning a plae, or survive as long as possible.

Any info on the improved AI, please? Vehicles, weapons, gfx effects and such are totally uninteresting for me.

I'm up for it, but won't be able to play during the week for the next to weeks.

Mkay, running Domi. Server is SubSim Clowns, password subsim. It's on 77.166.66.44 case you need it.

Fin, could run it sometime in the weekend. See if there's any interest at this point.

I had read in January, I think, there was a new patch which has specific support for improved AI. I were in no mood for more experiments and scanned for feedback on that, but found none. So I waited until early this week to try it myself, reinstalling CO and attaching the new software kit.

Then I tried some single player missions with AI set to profi and options tuned up.

Wowh, I was positively surprised, compared to my last attempt over one year ago. The enemy actually does react to my actions now, even aggressively engages on his own and does flankings. Also, my own squads showed to be more obedient and follow my commands for formations, holding positions and such, which also was a grande malaise one year ago and made me deinstalling the game. I occassionally stumbled into the odd things, for example the enemy soldier I almost stood upon and him acting ia if I were not there, and I do not know what I should make of the fact that enemies now seem to lay down aimed fire on me with no unobstructed LOS (gras, bushes), so I could not see him and thus he should not see me, but still firing at me precisely.

Anyhow, I must say that all in all the game, from an infantry point of view, now is a much more enjoyable experience than it was on my first run with it one year ago. Nice that the latest patch seems to have had such an immense impact on it.

The benchmarking option in the mission menu gave me a result of average 43 frames, and throughout the week it all was fluid and well playable. Only when using binoculars, I sometimes suffer from a punishing drop in frames, estimated to reach values in the one digit range. Is there a cure for that?

I also like the way the have improved the quick mission generator. what is possible there, perfectly matches my desires for what I want to play: missions from 30 minutes - 2 hours, with just a few enemies, or three dozens involved. You launch, make some clicks, and have a quick 1 hour of nice mission play.

Got the BW mod and two addons needed for running that. Works nice, just an occasional error regarding I think a missing sound file for the MG3 on vehicles. I do not run those vehciles anyway, so... Okay, let's not be picky.

Ah, vehicles. As is tradition in this series, they are terrible, slightly improved over the last game versions, but still: terrible. But I do not complain, since I do not play this game to ride in vehicles, but to play from a infantryman's perspective exclusively.

It is more difficult to not get hit and killed, than it was in ArmA or Flashpoint, and maybe the mentioned LOS thing is exaggerated or even erratic, however - it poses a challenge and that makes it nice. No longer mowing down hordes and hordes, with the still living guys just standing by, watching.

Congrats, try not to faint or do anything stupid like that... or if you do,
