I assume your name on the board is a nod to: Korvettenkapitän Georg Ludwig Ritter von Trapp - K. u. K. Marine in command of U-5 and U-14 in the "war to end all wars"??
Just curious. Any relation? Bernie |

Ritter v Trapp is one and the same with the Christopher Plummer character in the movie.
His first wife Agathe (with whom he had 7 children) was the granddaughter of Robert Whitehead who invented the first usable torpedo with gyro controls. His second wife (Agathe died of Scarlet Fever) was Maria (Julie Andrews) with whom he had three more children - the last born in Philadelphia after they came to the US in 1939. The v Trapp family Lodge Matriarch was Maria who lived and worked in Stowe Vermont until 1987. Nevertheless, v. Trapp was a renowned submarine skipper who racked up 13 confirmed kills (including a French Cruiser) and one capture (of a Greek freighter). Good connections! Fair Winds and Good Hunting |
