Keep an eye on your fuel gauge! Even when repaired, the game often never registers a full battery once it's been damaged and will chew away at ahead flank level fuel consumption to try charge it. If you get done, turn off battery charging when your on the surface unless they're depleted.

My experience with RSRD escorts varies greatly. Sometimes they will detect me very early and other times i will successfully evade after a sinking without so much as a ping.
