1936 Range / Ranging

While reading extracts from the COs log from a sub which was in the trail of a surface contact I noticed several mentions of manoeuvers for 1936 ranging, does anybody know what 1936 range / ranging is ?

Yes

Its basically very similar to Eklund ranging. The only difference I can think of is the formulae are a little different.

Thanks Ramius, I suspected it might be something along the same lines as Eklund.
