Is it just me or are the electric torpedoes, atleast in the early-early part of the war, complete garbage?
Im playing it on realism settings and saving and reloading over and over so I essentially get infinite torpedoes, and they dont even blow up stationary destroyers, let alone moving ones. As far as I can tell my one electrine torpedo is a dud, everytime I fire it, no matter which angle I fire it at, or if the object is stationary, its really hard to tell cuz its not on medium where it outlines the hull and has a lock on feature, but the electric torpedo NEVER detonates, it always misses. |

SUcks that I gotta leave town in about 2 and ahalf hours, but I think maybe I installed the IRAI correctly? Its on realism too if that helps.
The destroyers are a lot more aggressive, I was running periscope depth, sneaking into a harbor trying to sneak past the destroyer screen and then one barreled down on my. I dived and it started dropping depth charges, none came close but still. Right now Im being circled by a destroyer who isnt quite sure where I am, Im 40m below the surface. Also earlier this morning I had a destroyer park literally right on top of me, I figured I was screwed so I reloaded it from an hour earlier, but it was quite obvious he knew where I was, which I was surprised by considering it was night time and I was parked, but I didn't have silent running on. Im gonna have to go over all the improvements IRAI gives you because the destroyers do seem smarter all of a sudden. |

The one sitting above you is probably the director. If you are discovered by a HK (hunter-killer) group then it will dispatch a director (if the HK group has enough units). The job of the director is to direct everyone else to where you are. He goes all stop and stays within a certain radius of you just listening and letting everyone else know where you are. He is your worst enemy. Do everything you can to take him out. You are pretty much dead in this scenario unless you have excellent evading skills ![]() The best advice is just don't get discovered ![]() |

Good I must of installed it correctly then. I will know for sure if I get strafed by a plane, but Im still in early war.
You're right, I was parked as in full stop, trying to get a good torpedo shot off on a destroyer infront of me who hadnt seemed to take notice of me as he was at a dead stop as well. When I take a casual glance slightly to the right and directly right on top of me is a whole destroyer just sitting there, if I surfaced we would of colided. I knew I had been detected and if this were real life I would be completely screwed and forced to either abandon ship or go down with the ship. I reloaded the mission from a few minutes earlier and there was a destroyer on my 6 that I hadn't noticed (partially because it was night time) that was bearing down on me, so that must be the one you were referring to. The sonar I was hearing I was thinking it was the destroyer in front of me, not one behind me I had no idea about, so there was no way for me to know he had spotted me, without having taken a glance back, I was so focused on the destroyer infront of me. Now the main difference I could tell that these were not the same destroyers was when I was attacking a carrier with 7 destroyers escorting it, I fired off a salvo and sunk the carrier at which point the destroyers completely ignored the fact that the ship they were suppose to be defending got sunk and continued on there way as if nothing had happened. I had changed the method I used for installing IRAI between the carriers destroyers and the one that parked on top of me, I also started a new campaign, not sure if that helps either. Highly unrealistic, its like ubi made 80% of a game, then said f it, and let the modders do all the polishing of what was a turd. One last couple of questions since this is my thread for the game I am getting back into, and loving it with the IRAI. There is actually a sense of danger for once which vastly helps with immersion on my 28" monitor and really gets you into the game unlike other simulators I own. I have to say before it seemed like the destroyers never pinged their sonar, now they do it all the time and silent running is once again useful. PLus realism settings helps a lot as well. Anyways.... I did blockade of germany, sunk 5 amc ships, sunk the carrier, sunk 150,000 tons of shipping between the east coast of the UK and the Atlantic approach for the UK. There is still an iron cross in my mission objectives that I have not earned and can not proceed. My question is, do I have to wait it out til June 1st to continue (im still in mid February!) or is there anothe rmission that I haven't gotten to, that needs to be found and requested? Thanks Sparrs and I hope you had a good Xmas

With the campaign - it will auto end when you fill all the crosses, no matter what date it is. Note: - there is a game bug that when this happens, you head straight to the campaign victorious screen and do not get any renown for that last patrol. If you do not get all the crosses - the campaign will end by date. |

I got another question about the IRAI, will the destroyers go in search for the sub if a ship sinks in close proximity of the destroyer?
I was REALLY put off by this game when I sunk the carrier surrounded by 7 destroyers and didn't get so much as a ping or a depth charge, or even for them to break course. They just kept going after I sunk a huge capital ship, I couldn't believe how stupid the AI was. |
