No Smaug footage!?!?!

Any definitive word on who is voicing the dragon? I hope it is NOT Leonard Nimoy. His voice is too recognizable. Like Sean Connery in Dragonheart.
His voice propelled me right out of the story.

(the script would have propelled me right out of the theater were it not for my wife )

What a great name! And apparently that is his real given birth name: Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch. He's also listed as 'Necromancer', which seems to be a code-name for Sauron.

I'm glad to see that Christoper Lee is still around to play Saruman, along with several others From Lord Of The Rings. Also Brian Blessed is "rumored" to be playing King Dain.

I'm getting excited about this.

You, sir, have made my day. I'd hoped he'd play Gimli in the trilogy.

Being that the book has been split into two movies, I'm guessing that Smaug is in part 2.

Other possibilities are that the Smaug footage isn't ready to be released yet, or they are holding it back to build hype.

By looks of the trailer they're only going to get as far as Mirkwood in the first (And that's assuming my memory of The Hobbit isn't dodgy) so Smaug will most likely be in part 2.

OOOOOOOOHHHHH..... I cant wait now if it's split... I remember seeing Fellowship in the theatre when it came out, you could quickly tell at the end of the movie who had rread the books, and who hadn't.

The did read crowd was awed, but geeking out that parts (Tom in particular) had been left out. The didnt read crowd was in an uproar, people literally yelled out, about how it ended with no warning.

I remember the guy I worked with that said "I didn't know it was a trilogy."

Leaving that IN probably would have pissed off more people. And doubled the length of the movie.
