Welcome to our crew my friend!

Mods are a tricky thing at first, be sure to pay attention to the thread posted above and ask if you need any help.

This is the best online community you are likely to see and I have never seen a more friendly group of crazy sub skippers online ever.

It is 6:30am and I am just now finishing up after playing SH5 for about 14 hours in a row! I love this game! I snuck into scapa flow and sunk a huge British Battleship. It took me hours to get in there but well worth it. The game runs perfectly smooth. Not a single CTD or other problem. Now I need to sleep! Thanks for the warm welcome!

I was up till 4am this morning too, played a straight 8hrs yesterday on one patrol, spent two occasions being hunted by destroyers about 100meters deep, sunk 5 ships (three on one convoy on its way to Gibraltar) and finally completed the Western Approaches mission. Now I trying to find what an AMC ship is up in the north...I believe they are in Scapa Flow? I dont know, but compared to SH4, is this too easy? Yes, my game is modded but sinking 25 merchant ships with manual TDC on (with only really using the identifying abilities of my XO), between Sept and Dec '39 and two warships seems a little tonnage crazy? I see there is a tally on the ubisoft rankings, with obscene amounts of tonnage - I liked the realistic aspect of SH4 with TMO and RSRD, where I was usually in league with the top American Fleet Boat Aces, nothing too unreal. I think this takes the realism aspect down a notch, plus having to finish Western Approaches in the 100k club...well..dunno. I am using DarkWraiths UI mod, IRAI, Dynamic Environment (light) etc. Not tried the Open Horizons Campaign; my theory was that I finish the stock campaign, then check out the modded version. Other than that, good game, better than SH3, but I still leave it open whether a modded SH4 maybe has an more realistic edge over SH5. K.

I averaged around 10-15 merchants sunk per patrol on TMO/RSRDC. Just gotta know where the shipping lanes are. Good luck with the AMC ships, I'm sure you will change your mind about ease looking for them.

Without going through your readme files, do you have an application such as you do for your UI mod to do this? Other than that I am using your stock settings. And at least the planes strafe now (which they didnt at all in the stock game). Thanks.

G'day Hunter5, excuse me hijacking your thread.

@sparrs: I feel ya pain I'm (perhaps foolishly) trying to finish my first campaign without to much modding.

AMC stands for Armed Merchant Cruiser. They are actually 'Rawalpindi' class troop ships (in the recognition manual) and show up as warship contacts (radio or visual) in the designated northern patrol area.

I don't know how you're supposed to now that, I did a fair bit o searchin to work it out myself, and confirmed it by sinking a few.

There is quite a few about and they just generaly tavel back 'n' forth in the open sea. Don't be too blas-e, they're pretty heavily armed!

Thanks for that, I also did some searching on the forums last night, sussed out what they are, and I sunk three docked at both Loch Ewe (sp?) and Scapa Flow, but its early February and I still have to sink a carrier plus two other AMCs. A question: I have completed the Western Approaches mission, but I dont think there is no way I can complete the Northern mission before March 1st. It means I either refit (am out of torpedoes), or go back to base and end my three week patrol. Hard choices for me and my crew! If you dont complete the three missions in the first campaign, do you fail? Does the second campaign remain unlocked? I am thinking now that maybe I will install Open Horizons, up the difficulty level a bit (it was a breeze going into Scapa...a stationary destroyer stayed stationary after I had sunk an AMC plus a tanker). What do you suggest? Thanks (and sorry also for hijacking this thread)...
