I posted some questions at the Mods Workshop section, but that's apparently the wrong place. Instead of making a new thread, I'll just hijack this one
![]() Copy/pasted from that thread, that I'll delete later: After a series of HDD crashes (replaced my aging PSU that was suspected of ripple...so far, so good) I reinstalled SHIV and decided to give a mod a try. I'm using RFB with patch v1.4 (yeah, I know...I should get 1.5). Question 1: I downloaded the torpedo fix mod and installed it. JGSME first warned me about it, saying something like the original mod had already altered the file. Should I be using it? Question 2: When I zoom in/out of the map and drop waypoints, the waypoints stay stationary while the map zooms, giving the "illusion" (?) that some of them are actually on land. Is this a bug? Question 3: Other than the small amount of documentation that came with the download, is there any other detailed description of the changes (I looked and can't find any). Question 4: I've had a few CTD, but not many. Any tips on keeping it stable? (eg: Don't switch views really fast (that's what's caused some CTD's for me)). I'm also assuming the deck gun has been altered to be less lethal. My first contact was two unarmed merchants that I tried sinking with the guns. I spent nearly two hours pounding away and watched it sail into the sunset with just a bloody nose (deck on fire). EDIT: OK, apparently I can only delete a post and not a thread. |

I agree with Pisces, of celestail navigation fame (which I have never mastered.) The reason being is that it keeps the threads "clean" and makes searching a little easier. Also, and I am hijacking Scurvy's hijacked thread, the name "Scurvy" is similar to Captainscurvy's. I assume that was by accident. While the similarity is not in and of itself a huge deal, pleaase note that Captainscurvy is the creator of the OTC (Optical Targeting Correction) mod. It has its own thread in the mods forum and it may be the mod of the year. Captainscurvy has a large following and is well known for his posts and threads re refining attack techniques. The nn you have chosen could lead to some confusion. btw, the OTC mod is amazing, and I have begun occasionally referring to Captainscurby as Admiralscurvy because of it. If you check out the OTC thread, you will see that I have posted there on several occasions. Have a good Thankgiving. (Pisces, are you having Turkey with pumpkin pie today?)
