Natural selection does work.
It's just that there are Laws that allowed this type person to survive.

It's like makeing Laws to protect Bikers.
You don't like them so why try to protect them with Helmet Laws?

I would guess that the ability to cause extreme pain, suffering, and ultimately death to another living creature without any apparent compunction would be a factor in both pathologies.

Any old living critter would be bad enough - but a kitten? A KITTEN?!? Not just a helpless little baby critter, but one of the cutest little baby critters in all of creation?

I know not everyone is a cat person who sees a kitten and automatically goes "awwwwww" but COME ON.

Well heaven knows people do horrible enough things to human children, we've had enough horror stories in these parts to make you want to put a 2-by-4 upside somebody's head.
