Are you using Win7 ?? If so, I would try a reinstall of SH3 outside of Program files. In other words; C/Ubisoft/SH3 instead of C/Program files/Ubisoft?SH3. It can help with a lot of little startup bugs. If you could provide a bit more info on your CP, that might give a hint as to a fix for this. Good Hunting  D40
