Before reinstalling some months ago, the destroyers in my copy of SH3 were actively cheating in a psychic sort of way. Patrol after patrol, they always knew exactly where I was. I sometimes lay quiet, 70m under the waves, with silent running engaged, and listen for ships. In the situations where a destroyer happened by, it would instantly head towards me, from 20km away, then start pinging and attack. In all cases, I had sustained no damage. Fortunately, they seem to have relented for the time being, and the reinstall has fixed things. Stupid cheating AI...

With the researching I have done, up until 1941, sub hunting was really limited and was meant to keep the boot away from the convoy. Later on however....
And yes, I understand what you all are saying, because I have had the moments of wtf, there is no way I bungled this approach..... ![]()
