Considering that the Chinese, the Filipinos, and the Indonesians relied heavily on a fleet of thousands of these type of vessels for transport and commerce as well as fishing you should see a lot more than you do.

Sampans on a rope are bound to be a lil rough on the sensitive spots, at least at first.
