@ Trevally or just anyone - Heeeelp
After more than 15 hours of reinstalling SH5, downloading new copies of the OHII mods, enabling one by one I'm now ready for the asylum. At least I seriously believe I've got some defect for which I don't know the proper medical name.
I don't get it, how could OHII possibly run a few days ago, and after disabling one single mod (that didn't report any conflicts with OHII) simply stop running properly? I thought I'd seen most of all funny things that can happen when you fiddle around with mods but for sure there is much more to be seen. Now, when I enable the OHII Full or the OHII base version I still get the same result as in my post above. The only other mod activated is No Logo or Intro Animation. But until now I haven't bothered to check if the Historical Missions are running OK. So, I picked one of them and this is what I got; ![]() Oh yes, I've seen screens like this one before but only when doing settings in the TDW's NewUIs' UserOptions.py file without thinking. But this ![]() Before every reinstall I've done as I've done it before; - Backup of my user\documents\SH5 folder - Backup of my logs - Uninstall. Even ran a thorough scan with CCleaner for any leftovers after every uninstall. Didn't find anything at all. - Reinstall Is there any reasonable explanation at all why this occurrs? I'm getting to a point where I'll start acting like Basil Fawlty in his worst moments. ![]() The install runs fine with the NewUIs TDC 6.8.0. Even silentotto runs OK. Before I call the shrinks - please help me. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Not sure what is happening her SSteel ![]() You could try the following:- Use JSGME to unistall all mods Delete your MODS folder form SH5 dir (Copy from your MODS folder all the mods you want to keep first) Run JSGME (this will make a new MODS folder) Add TDWs UI and OHII only to MODS folder. Run game a test without any mods installed. If ok- Add TDWs UI - test again - if ok- Add OHII - test again If you still get the issues with only these two mods- Run JSGME valitador and post report Run SH5 validator and post report ![]() |

I've run the NewUIs TDC 6.8.0 + OHII now, same result And I've run the NewUIs TDC 6.8.0 alone - runs like a charm ![]() As I write I'm running both the SH5 Validator and the JSGME mod Validator I'll be back ASAP with the reports. It's in moments like this you really realize what it means to be a member of such a supporting community like Subsim is. It's a comfort to know you're there. ![]() Last edited by Silent Steel; 10-25-11 at 06:29 AM. |

BACK IN BUSINESS
Praise the Lord,
I'm still not quite sure why but it's running ![]() I think the reason to all this was an evil alliance between; * a corrupt JSGME install (thanks again for this tip) and * that weird location of the .ini file as I had no luck until I started to track it down. If I hadn't got the advice to look into the JSGME I don't think I would have solved it. Thanks again for your support ![]() (I've cancelled my appointment with the shrinks) |

There are located all the countries that the game uses and their sub-folders. Even after uninstalling OH II and all the other mods, there was still many new countries remaining. If I re-installed the mods again, those countries weren't working, it couldn't overwrite the leftovers. I had to remove them manually. But I'm not sure if this helps your situation... I have found it useful to make a backup copy of the stock 1.2 data folder. When I'm making mods and break and corrupt some file completely, I can copy the clean stock file over it. |

You're sure you're patched to 1.2? I seem to remember that "all white screens onto of each other" being a "not patched to 1.2" thing.

Good thinking to copy the fresh dat folder. Never thought of that ![]() As I've never checked which countries are 'default' after a fresh install and before enabling OHII I simply don't know which ones might have been added by OHII and afterwards left there when OHII has been disabled. Anyway, these are the ones I find (after disabling the OHII) in Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\roster; and Open Horizons II base v1.4\data\Roster; Does this take us any further? ![]() |

Really weird. Maybe your file unpacker is corrupted too? Did you try using the TDW's validator application in his newest Ui mod? |

![]() * I already tried the full version, no luck. * Unpacker - I've got winZip, ZipGenius and 7-Zip. Do you think one of these would be more reliable than the others? * Thanks for reminding me about the Silent Hunter 5 validator - I'm running it right now, let's see what it comes up with. I'll get back with the report. So far I've today been struggling with the JSGME and - Well, that's it so far, I'll be back with the Validator report. Thanks again for your support ![]() |
