That's the bottom line in conflicts.
If it was not good in Modern Warfare?
Why are many of our Service Members being killed or wounded with it to this day?
Lets just say that IDF current philosophy is combination of advanced training in urban warfare with conventional one.
This makes certain weapons more suited for the purpose than other.
While all weapons kill the purpose is to give individual a solder an edge on the opponent in reliability accuracy and ease of aim in combat condition.
Keeping some weapons "zeroed in" in the field can be real pain because not designed to use anything besides iron sights.
M-16 flat top was a partial solution to this for example allowing integration of some gadgets.
AK is crap when it comes to using it with anything besides iron sights besides the fact that its bulky and kicky and un accurate.

Try to take all the toys from your solders and im sure it will increase casualties.

Oh real men use AK lol

What is decided as the best weapon by studies and tests does not match the infield usage in a real combat situation as our Soldiers face today.

You have an under supplied Enemy, on the run, hideing in dirt!
But he is causeing heavy damages to better equipped Troops.
That don't sound like a bad weapon to me!
If I can kill you with a rock? I win.

.
I can speak for IDF where most studies are done in the field.
I'm not gun freak but i have shot lots cases of different ammo in many different ways in my life and i'm "jealous" of all the new stuff solders get now.

Sure...question is if all the new gadgets help or not.

Sure they help. That is a fact.
But a determined enemy, even with older weapons, can and do cause sever damage to invadeing forces.
To the point that said forces sometime withdrawal from the field of battle.

Any battle one engages in has several factors.
The most important is how many casualties can you sustain and for how long.

If I can out last you on that count even if I only use rocks?
You will withdrawal. I win the engagement.

So in todays world the AK is still the weapon of choice of rock throwers.

Depends on where you are fighting.

I don't like that whole Gun X is better than Gun Y. What gun is better really depends on where you are fighting.

If you are fighting in close in terrain (jungle, forest or urban) the AK is a good weapon to have. If you are fighting in open terrain (mountains or deserts) then a LR weapon like an M14 is the way to go. If you expect to fight in all then a middle of the road weapon (M16) is what you need.

I don't want to go into x is better than y...they all kill.
I take M-16 over AK.
With optical attachments i certainly take take M-16.
For reflex shooting i go with m-16.
For spraying ill go with AK.
M-14 is good and relatively accurate weapon.
It was used a lot as sniper gun in IDF before got replaced with m-24.
It was jamming a lot in the sand though and wasn't in par with true sniper guns.
