Some of the mods (especially the ones that modify graphics data) should revise their texture sizes, since I have seen some that added really really large textures that will only work OK on very powerful rigs.

So please, if you modify textures, try keeping the same resolution as the stock textures, or if you make larger ones, maybe make a version for lower spec computers.

Stock SH5 had problems fitting in the 512 video ram budget, which is what most video cards have right now. So any texture increase will certainly cause problems for some people.

To explain why the 3GB switch works: Since the game uses ~1.3 - 1.5 gb of memory, adding more than 512 video ram will exceed the 2GB virtual memory limit in Windows Vista/7.
But if you use extra large modded textures and play for a long time, pass through a lot of harbors etc, you might even exceed the 3GB limit. So CTDs are event possible with that switch, even though more seldom.

To reset back to 2GB limit:
to reset the Increased User Adressspace just start the commandline prompt with Admin right again and enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2048"

See if the above helps at all

Another idea is to install previous version of DirectX ( < v11). I have Win7 64bit but ALWAYS install previous DirectX versions for compatibility reasons. Go to Microsoft's website and search for DirectX. Run the DirectX web installer from their website. You can have DirectX9 AND DirectX11 installed on Win7.

just checked the sh5.exe file and it's large address aware so enabling the 3GB switch in 32bit OSs should help:

Dam, I knew there would be pain involved but thanks Trevally. The game has started crashing even more now with OH2 v1.3 after a good start.

I think I'll head back to OH 2, it worked very well, we go on.

I'm on the Western Approaches Campaign. Here's the problem, I've accomplished all the objectives, but I only have 9 of the 10 crosses filled. I think the Gibraltar Supplies Route objective should be worth 2 crosses rather than 1 cross. That way the campaign will end when I finish the South Atlantic Convoys mission and I don't have to steam all the way back to France and kill time until December 1941.

Aw crap and now I'm not eligible for Operation Drumbeat because my career isn't perfect.

so how do I make TDW_Mines_Subnets_Spottable (OH II v1.3) play nice with FX_Update_0_0_19_ByTheDarkWraith? do I just delete the Zones.cfg from TDW mines subnets spottable and load FX update first? thanks

Not a Bug but..where the Ships in the Mission Weserübung? I sunk the 5 ones in the Region Navrik. Now i must sunk 5 british ships from England to Norway - but evry ship that i sunk are the false!

Two objectives.

Red zone = sink 5 ships in this area or heading to this area.
Green zone = sink 1 ship

So if you have sunk the 5 ships in the red zone - go to the green zone and sink 1 more.

not sure why that did not work.

Yes you can edit save game:-
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames

Look for newest dated folder

HI

OH2 full V1.3 runs fine now after patching. I restarted and completed the first costal waters (East) mission and then the coastal waters western approaches (north) but on returning to base there are no futher missions for me, ? . I launched the boat without a mission and redocked hoping that might offer a mission, but no.

any ideas please, thanks.

New objectives are given when you reach a date.
Your next one will be around end march 1940.

Until then, just go and sink anywhere you want.
Or if you dock/patrol - about 14 days will pass each time you do it.
