Does Dowly smell or something? Why's he all the way up there by himself? Need that much room for the underground porn stash?

BTW, anyone come across the abandoned mines yet? Pretty awesome when you do, wooden supports, cobwebs and broken tracks etc, makes a great atmosphere.

Easier to build big project on water, no need to level ground.

Yeah, found 2 abandoned mines so far in our SMP world. The first I kinda
fell into, big crack on the surface that dropped me all the way to lvl12, luckily
there was some water to soften the landing. The second one is right under my
island, which sucks because I very much would've liked to make a normal mine
there to gather all the stone I'm going to need.

EDIT: Uh... was in the abandoned mines under my island, logged off to answer
the phone. Logged back in and was spawned in the water by my island.

It's true, there is an over abundance of forests in 1.8.1, mostly completely decked out with vines but, do what I do, travel away from the forest to the nearest biome. You then have plenty of room and enough wood to last you a loooooong time.

I do think the trees have been 'overdone' a little but, like I said, there's away around it.

BTW, for the record, what's up with the enormo-trees? You know the ones that are so huge you can't reach the last wood block without a makeshift scaffold? Annoying much?

I'm in the forest west of Oberon, you can see my shack from his floating island. My shack is the most eastern part of my village, which I will be expanding west ward.

Obe, if you had already claimed this forest, I apologize and will promptly move else where.

For those who watched X's/David64r's Minecraft Let's Play back in alpha days,
here's good news for you: He just released a new Minecraft episode.

Think my constructions mostly going to be centered on the mountain as well as a dock or something to allow water access to the river just NE of the mountain (based off of Oby's map.)

After spending rather large amount of time down in the abandoned mines under
my place, I have come to the conclusion that the thing never ends. So far, I've
found total of 15-18 chests, countless number of spider spawners, few small
cave systems, yet the place just keeps on going. I dig out some gravel and
uncover another shaft, follow it and it branches to 2 more which branches to
2 more and on and on.

To put it in another perspective: I've so far covered 3-4 times the area I covered in
the biggest buried ruins system I found in YogBox.

Why is it Dowly always manages to be so far from where the main group is settled?

One thing, are we going to be doing something akin to a community project? I am willing to start making roads to link the settlements that we currently have.

OK, Hunger is a great idea, but fack it's a pain in the rear when first starting. by the time I get back to my mountain I'm down to the last 1/3 of my hunger... and then either Creepers or hunger gets me. Punching grass for seeds has been useless so far, and no animals to be seen... gah!
