Take it as you will. Flaunting long established rules and personal insults don't fly around here.

Hmm... any particular reason why you dredged this up or are you purposely trying to test me? If you wish to stay here, I would suggest you abide by the rules.

Edit - Neon, that's not aimed at you, you just beat my post!

I am the moderator of this corner of Subsim, hence my question.

I have already explained the reasoning rather thoroughly already. It is very simple to abide by (I haven't had to give any infractions since I posted that warning), so I fail to see what the issue is.

Forgive me for inquiring but I have to ask. What is a 'fully asterisked out word'? Are you saying that if I type as an exclamation ******* or @#&^%# I will recieve an infraction for being vulgar and offensive?
If you use #$)!@&&^! or ****** once in a while, you won't have any problem. But if your posts are routinely full of astericks that are thinly veiled swear words, you will be asked very politely to stop.

The rules of this forum have been in place for a decade, and excessive swearing and using ***** in place of swear words is not allowed. We could have a long thread discussing the reason and motives of this rule but I'm just going to say, in case you were not aware, people are judged by the way they express themselves.

Everyone is judged by how they express themselves by everyone they are interacting with, it is part of human nature and social interaction. If me tak lik dis u tink me idiot. It is similar with the use of swearing, if you cannot express yourself with out using obscenities then I have to question your character.

Anyways end of discussion. Like Neal said this rule has been here for a decade, you can either abide by it, or go someplace else. Challenge it and there will be consequences.

<Edit> Once in a while is occasionally, or accidentally. If I see a pattern emerge then it is intentional.

Nope just lazy and/or ignorant, and Steve will go into grammar overdrive - which is fun to watch but not be on the receiving end

Glad there's been some clarification - two threads on it but we still could do with what exactly is or isn't included, as mentioned previously one country/regions words mean something totally different - fanny for one - innocent in the US, slightly rude here in the UK, goodness knows what elsewhere? That is a lame example I know but there are others...

Although how you'd create such a list without it looking like -

By order of The Managment

@Kentas - this site is probably the most mature gamers site around even the 19-y-o are more mature than most 30+-y-o gamers on other sites, as such we can use a wide vocabulary. It's always been this way, nice an polite (mostly), myriad sites exist where you can swear freely and you can go there to swear, our Texan leader requests we don't - standards were slipping and this thread was just the polite public request to amend the direction we were going. I like to swear on occasion, and have used asterisks here on numerous occasions, but now I'm aware of the forum rules (again ) I shall be more aware of what I type.

And we do have some disabled people here, who type just as well as everybody else.

You might just laughed from disabled ppl that might be having difficulties in typing... So if asteriks by default means swearing right ? How can you accidently use asterics while typing something on the PC. You may accidently blurt it out verbally..

For things to change timeline doesn;t matter, will it be decade or a 50 years. Things change as much as you want them to change =] What you get with strict rules in time will be a zombie society, and I think you all should take it easier with that, since usage of asterics is far away from anarchy or any other mess =]

It starts to get funny to discuss about it so long, but common where is the danger to community seen in asterics ?
You can accidentally use them by entering in an uncensored swear word, the filter will convert it to *. This often happens if members get upset and forget themselves.

Also FYI I work with people with disabilities...

Think it is already covered, like we said, language you would use in front of someone you respect a lot (who doesn't like swearing). Language used is also irrelevant, as we will infract for swearing in other languages too.
