I wanted to start a similar thread...

The only difference is that I haven't even bought SH5 yet.
Is it worth the money now or should I just reinstall SH3 and mod it to the max?

If you have to ask then you don't need to be in the SH5 forums. Stay with SH3

So a patched & Modded SH 5 is still not as enjoyable as a modded SH3?
(By enjoyable I don't mean perfectly realistic. I don't play subsims regularly and just want to play a few hours without obvious bugs and bad balance annoying me or the DRM interrupting my game session.)

How sad...

Thanks for the answer, gonna go search my copy of SH3 then...

I think for that you'll be fine. The list of mods can get long but you're probably used to modding from SH3. You can find 5 now for about £5 on amazon and places like that now, for that price you can't really go wrong. I've not yet had a session interrupted by the DRM, though I do get the odd CTD while I season my mod soup. Soon it'll be just right though.

Short answer it's silly money now, worth a shot imo, if only to see what the modders have done (and still are doing) with it.

That's not what he said. People come on this forum almost every day asking the exact same question, apparently not bothering to read all the other posts by people who play the game and love it.

Steve They come and post their own Questions and give their own
Answers. Like their impressing Everybody.

Don't even have the Game and, never had any intention of
Reading how SH5 has improved immensely by the hard work
the Modders.

TDW has posted he is doing a Mega Mod. He states in the Forums
he prefers to work alone. If he prefers it that way to him.

He always takes the time tho to help a player who is haveing
trouble.

All our Modders, Big mods or Small mods have made SH6 way,
more enjoyable and fixed SH6 so it can be played. unlike when it
was released. to you all.

He couldn't be bothered to read anything from the SH6 Forums.

It's his loss as far as I'm concerned and, I'm not all that
concerned.

It is said that there are no stupid questions but anybody who has taught for a living would probably, if secretly, confess that there are questions worthy only of eye-rolling and great heaving sighs of despair. They seem to happen here on the SH5 forum a couple of times a week and they really should stop.

I do not own SH5 and would probably not have bought it since I was and am fundamentally opposed the the core development principles behind the game; EI, role-playing the captain etc. Watching the DRM fiasco merely cemented a bias against the game from the start so it was with more than a little schadenfreude that I started regular visits here as the game release drama played out.

Along the way though, something odd happened...

Some very talented content creators decided to make the sow's ear into a silk purse and to all appearances have had remarkable success doing it at the cost of a tremendous amount of work. So it's understandable when the weekly "Is SH5 any good yet?" thread gets started, tempers can get short on occasion. Anybody with half a brain and a mouse can see what has been done by people who have demonstrated perseverance, innovation and intelligence correcting SH5's flaws and re-creating the game for free and for the SH5 community.

Although I still have no intention of buying the game, I lurk here in awe of the highly motivated and unselfish modding community that continues to spend time and effort on SH5. They deserve better than the pathetic "Are We There Yet?" nonsense from thread starters too thick, lazy or rude to take 5-minutes and read what's been done to SH5 since release.

Best of Luck and Good Hunting to all of those in SH5 land from one whom is still looking in but no longer laughing. Salute!

Randomizer, with your permission I am going to link to your post every time someone asks this in the future, and encourage others here to do the same. You have stated my own feelings about this better than I ever have myself.
