Between December 1907 and February 1909 sixteen battleships comprising the core of the United States Navy conducted a round the world voyage that some historians believe really marked the entry of America onto the Great Power stage.

The voyage of the Great White Fleet (US warships were painted white with yellow funnels) was world news at the time and the ships visits' were major events.
