"Federal officials said two nuclear reactors had been taken offline near the epicentre of the quake in Virginia but that no damage had been reported."

I think god is punishing the East Coast for [insert reason here].

Starting countdown now to Sheila Jackass-Lee to appear before the cameras.

I was in my local mall in Southern MD when it hit. News is saying 5.9 now. My house is a wreck, things have been knocked off of shelves, vases sharttered. Some neighbors have busted out windows. Very scary stuff on this side of the river.

In the mall, I thought it was a bomb. I litterally was just taking an orange chicken sample from a Chinese food restaurant in the mall when the ground gave out from underneath!

Been through quite a few quakes in my 60+ years; was born and raised in SaN Francisco where quakes are rather commonplace. How ever, I never experienced a major quake in the time I lived there; it was only after I moved to Los Angeles that I went through some major, destructive quakes:

Sylmar Quake 1971 (6.6)
Whittier Narrows Quake 1987 (5.9)
Big Bear Quake 1992 (6.4)
Northridge Quake 1994 (6.7)

The Northridge Quake was really destructive because it triggered off some faults that hadn't had any activity in many, many decades. Some of the faults were unknown to seismologists until the quake hit. One failut that broke loose was only about a half mile from my residence, so we felt not only the shaking from the main quake but, also, the "sub-quake" caused by the local fault giving way. Definitely an 'E' ticket ride..

Back when they still did underground testing, a particularly large test was expolded that caused tremors felt all the was to Las Vegas. News reports at the time said when the shaking hit the casinos, gamblers paused for about a split second and then carried on with their games, totally ignoring
swinging light fixtures overhead...
