Good lord where did you find that.

I remember watching those test patterns by the hour during the early days of TV. "Our programing has experienced some difficulty. Please stand by."

And Anthony even posted in a thread that he had been placed on his ignore list anyway.
The magic ignore list
You should know I will always take the mickey out of a bull excrement merchant.
For example Haplo having me on his ignore list doesn't stop me from writing that he doesn't know scripture when he goes into "christian" mode

It does make for some entertaining reading on occasions.
Whether right or wrong.

Technically speaking, the Indian head with "please stand by" written on it, was not a test pattern, as the writing covered important details.

Here is a link to a test pattern page: http://www.meldrum.co.uk/mhp/testcard/ It mainly covers European cards, as the Amercians were the first who to broadcast 24/7, here we used them much longer mostly during the night break.
Here are some from the bw era: http://www.tv-testbild.com/html/bw.htm
and from the color era: http://www.tv-testbild.com/html/color.htm

Speaking of stand-by cards, these were pretty cool:

(I love test cards )

The engine didn't run... He had a new one. He didn't want to bother with fixing the old one or have it laying around the hangar taking up space. I got it. Simple.

Hell, I could go pull a 454 Big Block out of the junkyard across town and they wouldn't charge me for it so long as I got it dismounted myself.

You could ask GoldenRivet - I believe he has or had a Piper Cub so is probably more in-the-know than the rest of us.
