If nothing else helps you could program the controller to use only two or three engine (speed) settings. 1/3 ahead and Full ahead would be something useful, maybe the minimum speed ahead too. At times in stock SH3 one can't use keyboard commands anyways, because there is no preset key for 1 knot forward (silent enough) or 8 knots forward (most economical speed for a type VII). There might be mods that change the speed settings, though.

Another solution would be downloading a keymapper program from the Downloads section and look though all the commands if there are commands for slower and faster.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1016 might be useful.

Good idea, I can configure the pad which has eight directions so I only have to leave out 2 speed settings. Which two speed settings do you use least often ?

Cool, at least I learned something about speed now, I already wondered if being very slow is silent enough or if I better have to stop in order to remain undetected. Same for 8 knots as most economic but I have switched off the limited diesel ayway. I might use 8 knots however if that is also the most environment-friendly speed. That might make up for the oil slicks I leave in the North Sea.

Hmm.. I think I already answered, but it seems the answer is not here... Well, about the speed. Drop two of the backward settings. Use minimum backwards, medium backwards and maximum speed backwards.

And yes we have to be environment-friendly here. In fact, this is the only reason I sink them ships! The darned allies are polluting all the seas with those diesel guzzling huge ships of theirs! It's a torpedo down their polluting throats and down those un-ecolike ships go, saving the Atlantic from environmentally unsound shipping policies. They even zigzag, which means they will take a longer time to get where they are going, using more fuel too. SINK 'EM ALL! - to make the Atlantic waters all clean and peaceful again
